Steril Air UV-A
Teleco’s Steril Air UV-A puts an end to bad smells, viruses, bacteria and polluted air in motorhomes
The standard air purification technology for healthcare facilities and restaurants is now also available for the first time for recreational vehicles. The new product is designed to eliminate pollutants through an ultraviolet LED system
Steril Air UV-A-Teleco presents the Steril Air UV-A air filter, which features a UV-A LED system capable of eliminating both synthetic pollutants such as formaldehyde and benzene, as well as biological agents such as viruses and bacteria from motorhome living areas. The low power consumption of the LED technology makes the filter usable 24 hours a day without excessively impacting the battery.
Steril Air UV-A is an ecologically sustainable choice not only due to its low power consumption, but also because LED lamps, by nature, have a very long life (up to 30,000 hours, compared to the average 5,000 hours for mercury UV lamps), and therefore guarantee the filter a life measurable in years.
An ally against polluted air, at all times
Camper van owners love the open-air. However, there are situations when they have to opt for closing all rooflights, doors and windows. The main time is clearly at night, when an air conditioner is used in the summer, while in winter the heating is turned on. The limited space in the motorhome means that air-borne pollutants accumulate very quickly.
Even long waits in queues at motorway toll booths in summer periods are moments when the air quality deteriorates significantly. Various reports from the EEA (European Environmental Agency) warn that the air quality is often more polluted inside vehicles than outside, and stationary moments with the motor running are when such conditions mainly occur.
Finally, cooking in the motorhome often creates lingering smells in the cabin. This “collateral effect” becomes practically inevitable in the colder months, when most of the windows are kept closed.
Teleco’s Steril Air UV-A is the answer to all these problems, as it is capable of filtering all the agents that give rise to these problems, such as:
Benzene: a component of car exhaust fumes, abundant in the case of inefficient or incomplete combustion and classified as a type 1 carcinogen by the IARC.
Formaldehyde: a pollutant released as plastic materials age; it is particularly present in warmer periods, when the decay of plastic increases due to heat; it is also found in cigarette smoke, and is classified as a type 1B carcinogen by the IARC.
Vapours: airborne products caused by cooking, and therefore the principle means for the transmission of various odours; eliminating vapours at their source is the best solution for preventing unpleasant smells.
Biological agents: it is scientifically proven that a poor exchange of air increases the onset of diseases caused by viruses and bacteria. The air in camper cabins tends to become saturated very quickly even in the summer, when people prefer to sleep with the windows closed because of the air conditioning.
Allergens: pollen residues, fungal spores and dead cells from pets are the main cause of the onset of allergic reactions in predisposed individuals.
Steril Air UV-A is extremely effective in filtering all these pollutants, and offers a unique preventive action thanks to UV-A technology, similar to that used in hospital sterilisation systems.
The benefits of an LED filter
Thanks to its ultraviolet LED filtering system, the Steril Air UV-A system offers numerous advantages compared to the filters traditionally used in vehicles:
Effectiveness: it ensures continuous sanitisation 24 hours a day, eliminating a wide range of pathogens
Energy efficiency: low power consumption and instant start
Environmentally friendly: it does not use harmful chemicals such as ozone or mercury, thus respecting the environment
Lifespan: UV LEDs have a significantly longer lifespan than traditional mercury lamps
Safety: it can be used in the presence of people and animals without risk, implying a significant increase in the ambient comfort for allergy sufferers
Certified: the effectiveness of the device is certified by accredited laboratories.
Steril Air UV-A is the result of more than ten years of research by Teleco in the field of UV-A LEDs and provides an innovative and safe solution for sanitising living spaces, offering an environmentally friendly and long-lasting alternative to traditional technologies.
