WORLD PREMIERE THE FIRST GAS-FREE VARIO STAR
With the new VARIO Star 800, VARIOmobil is unveiling a fully gas-free premium motorhome in the compact 7.5-tonne class for the first time at the CARAVAN SALON 2026. At the same time, the Bohmte-based manufacturer is introducing the digital MirrorCam system as standard equipment across all VARIO Star models starting with the 2027 model year. In doing so, the VARIO Star combines—for the first time—the state-of-the-art energy and safety technology found in the large, bespoke VARIO Perfect class with the compact dimensions of a premium comfort motorhome.
Instead of conventional LPG technology, the new VARIO Star 800 relies consistently on a modern, integrated concept featuring a Scheer nano Blue Efficiency® diesel-hybrid heating system, an induction cooktop, a compressor refrigerator, a solar power system upgraded to 800 watts, and high-performance lithium batteries. The result is an exceptionally comfortable, self-sufficient, and low-maintenance energy system designed for discerning travelers.
Measuring just 2.33 meters in width, 8.25 meters in length, and 3.40 meters in height, the VARIO Star combines exceptional maneuverability with the living comfort typical of an exclusive motorhome manufacturer. Based on the MAN TGL 8.220 chassis with 162 kW (220 hp), the vehicle impresses with state-of-the-art driver assistance systems, comfortable rear-axle air suspension, and superior driving dynamics. With a gross vehicle weight of 7.49 tonnes, the VARIO Star is particularly attractive to many holders of the older Class 3 driving license, offering an entry point into the exclusive world of VARIOmobil within a compact vehicle class.
Advanced Technology for the Compact Premium Class
With the 2027 model year, VARIOmobil is taking another technological step forward. For the first time, the VARIO Star is being designed to be completely gas-free. This allows customers to benefit from the same technological advantages that have already proven their worth in the large premium motorhomes of the VARIO Perfect series.
At the heart of the new energy concept is the Scheer nano Blue Efficiency® diesel-hybrid heating system. It offers a heating output of 7 kW in diesel mode and an additional electric heating output of up to 2 kW.
The system is complemented by a 220-liter diesel tank, an energy-efficient compressor refrigerator, a modern dual-zone induction cooktop, a solar power system upgraded to 800 watts, and a lithium battery system increased to 600 Ah.

Eliminating the need for LPG enhances ease of use and creates additional storage space. At the same time, travelers benefit from a simplified energy supply, reduced maintenance requirements, high energy efficiency, and an exceptionally high level of self-sufficiency.

The VARIO Star remains true to its philosophy in the interior as well. High-quality cabinetry featuring the bentART design, exquisite “Silver Knotty Oak” real wood, satin-finish furniture fronts, finely coordinated blackLINE details, and exclusive leather upholstery create a warm, inviting atmosphere with a distinctive, handcrafted feel. Seamless transitions between the lounge and kitchen, premium materials, underfloor heating, and impeccable workmanship make the VARIO Star a top-tier luxury motorhome.
At the rear, comfortable single beds paired with a raised roofline ensure generous freedom of movement and ample headroom. Beneath them lies an exceptionally spacious rear garage with room for a scooter or e-bikes—complete with optional integrated charging technology.

The vehicle exhibited at the CARAVAN SALON features extensive optional equipment. As a bespoke vehicle, every VARIO Star is individually planned and manufactured according to the future owners’ wishes.
