Lippert is preparing for a particularly significant edition of the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, where it will be present in Hall 14, Stand C05. The company is an international benchmark for technology solutions in recreational vehicles and will introduce a full range of innovations designed to improve the in-vehicle experience, technical integration, and freedom of use.

Nuvola is one of the most eagerly awaited previews. It is a motorized lifting bed system that combines intelligent design, energy autonomy, and flexibility. It is a fully autonomous belt-driven system, powered by its own rechargeable battery, designed to minimize the footprint and installation complexity in next-generation recreational vehicles.

We wanted to create a system that is completely independent of the electrical system of the vehicle“, said Fabio Romagnoli, Engineering Director Caravanning Italy, Lippert EMEA. “With Nuvola, the bed can be used for more than 50 cycles without recharging, making it perfect for off-grid camping“.

At the heart of the system is a dedicated battery (6 or 12Ah) installed in the bed frame that can be recharged at 12V via a cable or through an optional induction charging system. In the latter case, it automatically recharges whenever the bed moves up to the sleeping position, eliminating the need for user intervention.

Nuvola does not require grommets, mechanical guides, or chain cover curtains. Additionally, the absence of wiring provides manufacturers with more design freedom. The under-frame lighting includes built-in LEDs (reading light and underbed light). The lighting located and the up-and-down mechanism can be controlled by a fixed panel mounted on the edge of the bed or by a Bluetooth remote control, which also provides information on the battery charge status. Lippert allows future integration with smartphones via apps.

Romagnoli added: “With Nuvola, we aim to offer a solution that combines practicality and autonomy with clever design and a technological soul. The goal is to create a functional bed and a veritable piece of furniture capable of harmoniously integrating with the interior aesthetics and ergonomics, contributing to make the in-vehicle experience even more pleasant and modern”.

The system makes perfect use of two other innovative Lippert components: the Compact Bed Frame and the Compact Motor. The former is a lighter, more compact version of the bed base. The latter has an electric motor that reduces its weight by about 1.5 kg while maintaining the same performance. As a future development, adaptation is already planned for rear beds or those with arm mechanisms as well.

Lippert Nuvola offers benefits to both recreational vehicle manufacturers and end users. First of all, the movement of the bed does not affect the capacity of the service battery in the case of prolonged off-grid use, providing more autonomy. Added to this is an undoubted aesthetic advantage due to the absence of wiring and connectivity allowing the bed to be controlled with a remote control and, soon, with a smartphone.

In addition to Nuvola, Lippert also recently introduced Detroit Light, a lighter, optimized version of the well-known Detroit bed. This evolution is distinguished by the use of the Compact Bed Frame that reduces both the overall weight and structural footprint of the bed. A lighter bed base with redesigned mechanisms improves stability and comfort during use. In particular, a new locking system located at the bottom of the frame limits sideways wobble, making the bed more stable at night.
